Spring leaf pickup starts Monday in the City of Knox. Leaf pickup will take place April 5 through 9 and May 3 through 7, according to the Mayor’s Office. Leaves should be placed in a long row next to the curb along the street, not in the alley. Residents are asked not to bag the leaves and to keep any trash out of the leaf piles.
The Knox Street Department will pick up branches and limbs each Thursday, but the city won’t take brush from professional tree removal jobs. Those using the city compost pile at the corner of Shield and Mound streets are asked to remove the leaves and grass from bags or containers.
In North Judson, brush pickup takes place the last Thursday of each month. During a recent town council meeting, Town Superintendent Joe Leszek asked residents to place brush in manageable piles by the side of the street.
