The Town of Hamlet has taken action to fix a traffic safety issue near the new Dollar General store. The town council voted last week to place a stop sign on the eastbound U.S. 30 frontage road, officially 600 North, at its intersection with Starke Street.
Town Marshal Clint Norem said he’d gotten complaints about cars from the dollar store cutting off traffic coming from town. “I guess there’s a yield [sign], and the gentleman that stopped me, he had a car just pull right out in front of him,” Norem told council members. “He asked if there was any possibility of a stop sign being placed there.”
The sign was installed the following day, according to a post shared on the Town of Hamlet Facebook page.
