The Knox Community School Corporation will once again offer free meals for pickup this summer. Five days of breakfast and lunch will be provided for Knox youth 18 and younger, according to a Knox Community Schools Facebook post. Distribution will take place each Monday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Knox Middle School, from June 7 to July 28.
While the USDA typically partners with local schools and other organizations to offer free meals through the Summer Food Service Program, waivers put in place in response to the COVID-19 pandemic give them the option to offer meals for pickup.
Families planning to pick up food are asked to notify Food Services Director Karen Baker the Wednesday before the pickup day, including the students’ names and the parent or guardian’s name, by emailing kbaker@knox.k12.in.us or leaving a message at 574-772-1632.
