Knox Garage Fire Reportedly Spreads to Home

A fire that began in a detached garage spread to a home in Knox Saturday. It happened just before 7:30 p.m. on South Fisher Street, according to Knox-Center Township Fire Chief Kenny Pfost. He says the amount of heat and strong winds spread the fire to the rear of the home.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the home’s attic area, but much of the home had smoke and water damage. Pfost says a cat had to be rescued. The cause of the fire is undetermined.

Pfost credits Starke County dispatchers for “perfectly executing” the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System, which he says got help to the scene more quickly. The Knox-Center Township Fire Department was assisted by the Hamlet-Davis Township Fire Department, Starke County EMS, and Knox City Police.
