Teachers at the Knox Community School Corporation may expect a pay raise in the coming year.
Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart recently told the school board that the state has increased its funding by $405 per student. “I would ask that the board look at giving considerable increases to our staff, both teachers, administrators, and support staff,” Reichhart said.
Along with the funding increase, the Indiana General Assembly is requiring school districts to raise their starting teacher salary to $40,000 in the next few years. Currently, Knox is $3,300 short of that.
Reichhart has expressed concern about using federal COVID-19 relief for one-time teacher stipends, preferring to spend that money on facility upgrades, like a new vocational wing.
