LaPorte County Police Report Finding Guns, Drugs during U.S. 20 Traffic Stop

Three people were arrested, after LaPorte County sheriff’s deputies say they found guns and drugs during a U.S. 20 traffic stop. Police say they pulled over a vehicle east of County Road 350 East early Wednesday morning after it was driving 20 miles per hour over the speed limit and nearly ran off the roadway.

Deputies say they noticed a firearm in plan view and a synthetic drug that had apparently been thrown out of the vehicle by one of the occupants. When they searched the interior, police say they found two loaded handguns, a synthetic drug, and a white powdery substance later identified as cocaine.

The front-seat passenger, Patrice M. Peate, 39, of Mishawaka, is accused of carrying a handgun without a license and possession of a synthetic drug. Police say formal charges were filed Thursday against the driver, Ernest D. Glasper, 35, of Michigan City, and rear-seat passenger, Michael R. Anderson, 33, of Mishawaka.
