Orkis Hired As North Judson-San Pierre High School Principal

Newly-appointed high school principal Brian Orkis speaks to the N.J.-S.P. School Board Tuesday.

North Judson-San Pierre Junior/Senior High School has a new principal. Brian Orkis was officially hired by the school board Tuesday.

He says he hopes to empower students, while also honoring the school’s history. “It’s an awesome responsibility,” Orkis says. “It’s an honor, it’s a privilege because I am a graduate of North Judson, and I’ve spent a lot of my life within the school community. I think any time you have an opportunity to come back home and serve the community that got you to where you are at this point in your life, it’s a pretty special thing, and I’m going to do my best to take us to where we need to be.”

For the past year, Orkis served as N.J.-S.P.’s student services coordinator, where he helped oversee the school corporation’s COVID-19 response and remote learning procedures. Orkis will earn $93,000 a year, under a two-year contract approved by the school board Tuesday.

Board members also agreed to extend Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin’s contract through June of 2024. Elementary School Principal Cary McKay will continue with the second year of his two-year contract.
