Winamac’s Owen Abbott Memorial Splash Pad is proving to be a hit. Town Manager Brad Zellers told the town council Monday he’s already had to expand the hours. “I went up there a couple mornings,” he explained. “There was a line at nine o’clock in the morning, so I changed it to 9:00 a.m. to go off at 10:00 p.m.”
He said the new restrooms are open, and the tables in the shelter are getting a ton of use. But he said there’s still work to do. The sidewalk should be finished soon, and bike racks and a flagpole are scheduled to arrive this week. Zellers pointed out that many of those items have been donated. Council Member Alvin Parish noted that money raised for the canceled swimming pool project was also put to use outfitting the site.
