Three streets in Hamlet could soon be getting upgrades. The town council Wednesday accepted the lone bid from Milestone Contractors North for planned Community Crossings projects, for just over $100,000.
Council Member Brian Earnest says the work will focus on some of the east-west roads that haven’t been covered in previous rounds. “He’ll be doing paving and patching of a section of Pearl Street and then a pretty long section of Davis, basically all the way from Division to Jefferson, and then a section of Hamlet Street,” Earnest explained.
He said the bid was right about where town officials hoped it would be. The state’s Community Crossings grant would put the town’s share of the cost at about $25,000.
