Knox Elementary School’s preschool program has gotten its state certification. School Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart says that will allow the school to accept federally-funded vouchers to help cover the cost for families meeting income guidelines.
“Based upon Starke County, what we think they will receive is $31.25,” he says. “That’s an estimated number.”
That would cut the cost of preschool from $40 a week down to $8.75 for families whose gross income is below 127 percent of the federal poverty level.
