Knox Man Dies in Apparent Yellow River Drowning

A Knox man is dead after an apparent drowning in the Yellow River. Indiana Conservation Officer Tyler Brock says it happened around 9:15 Wednesday morning near U.S. 35.

Witnesses reported that the man jumped off the old railroad bridge but didn’t resurface. Brock says multiple agencies were called to the scene, and a Conservation Officers’ dive team recovered his body around noon in 19 feet of water.

The man’s name has not yet been released. The death remains under investigation.

Knox City Police, the Starke County Sheriff’s Department, Starke County EMS, the Starke County Coroner’s Office, and the Knox, Bass Lake, and North Judson fire departments assisted at the scene.
