North Judson Town Council Approves Purchase of New Tanker Truck

The North Judson Town Council has signed off on the purchase of a $240,000 fire truck. Last week, council members agreed to let Fire Chief Joe Leszek sign the contract for a 2022 Freightliner tanker truck from McGinley Fire Apparatus.

But Leszek said they hadn’t actually finalized the financing yet. “I know we’ve gotten one financing option, and I don’t think [Clerk-Treasurer] Andrew [Rowe has] gotten a chance to look into the other local banks for their financing options,” Leszek told council members. “But they said it’s no problem to actually sign the contract, then we can figure out the financing, since we’re still a year away [from delivery].”

The North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department already has about $100,000 available, with insurance money from a tanker that was totaled in January, funding from Wayne Township, and the department’s equipment budget. Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe offered to set up a meeting with local bank representatives, to find the best deal for borrowing the rest of the money.
