Dogs seized by Pulaski County Animal Control may soon be taken to the Recycling and Transfer Station. Sheriff Jeff Richwine has been looking for a solution for animals that aren’t able to be housed at the Starke County Humane Society or the Pulaski Animal Center.
He told the county commissioners last week that the Recycling and Transfer Station has a building that already has the security he needs. Putting it there would also simplify the waste removal process. The commissioners agreed to let Richwine move forward with discussions with Recycling staff.
He said the animal control officer is looking to get three indoor kennels and three outdoor kennels. Richwine said he has enough commissary revenue to cover the cost, if it remains around $5,000 to $6,000 and it’s approved by the county council.
