An early July police chase that reportedly ended with an SUV crashing into a fence at the Knox Elementary School playground resulted in almost $4,000 of damage to school property, according to School Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart.

“We have turned that in to the Prosecutor’s Office,” he recently told the school board. “If I’m a betting person – which I am – probably, we won’t see that money.”

Reichhart said the fence had been fixed and the playground was once again safe for kids.
