School officials continue to remind families that help is available for textbook fees. North Judson-San Pierre Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin says that while school meals are free this year, families still need to apply to get other types of assistance.
“Families should still apply for free and reduced and textbook assistance because that’s just the lunch,” she explained during last month’s school board meeting. “And so they should still apply so that they can receive those benefits from the textbook fees.”
While students continue to get breakfast and lunch for free, Corporation Treasurer Dalton Tunis says the school corporation has to raise adult meal prices. “The adult breakfast did go up to $2.50. The adult lunch did go up to $4.60,” he said. “So it didn’t affect any of the kids. That will still be the same as last year. But to compensate for that, they did raise adult meal prices, breakfast and lunch.”
The school board unanimously approved the required increases during last month’s meeting.
