Pulaski County government offices now have a clearer set of guidelines to follow, when it comes to technology purchases. The county council and commissioners recently signed off on an IT consultant policy.
County Attorney Kevin Tankersley told council members this month that DeGroot Technology will create a list of pre-approved hardware and software that’s compatible with the county’s existing systems. “The department head, if they have a need and they’re going to acquire the software or hardware, they’re going to send it to him, ask for that list,” Tankersley explained. “If it’s on the list, they don’t need to do anything else. They can move on to the next step, which is to figure out how to pay for it, which is this board’s decision.”
Tankersley said the goal is to improve security, while reducing unnecessary purchases.
