No comments were offered during last week’s public hearing on the Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation’s 2022 budget, according to Superintendent Dara Chezem.
The proposed budget totals almost $14.5 million, with an Education Fund of almost $8.1 million and an Operations Fund of just over $4.4 million. “We advertised it high, expecting that the [Department of Local Government Finance] will cut the budget as they always do,” Chezem explains, “and then the tax rate is anticipated to be very similar to last year’s.”
Some of the big ticket items proposed for the capital projects plan include roofing work at the elementary school, a new softball field, and renovations to the outdoor basketball and tennis courts. The proposed bus replacement plan calls for two or three buses to be purchased in each of the next five years.
The Eastern Pulaski School Board is scheduled to adopt the 2022 budget on Monday.
