The North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation budget process continues moving ahead. The school board last month approved the 2022 capital projects and bus replacement plans.
The school corporation will continue with its bus purchasing cycle, according to Treasurer Dalton Tunis.
“We did budget for three buses at a projected [total] cost of $315,000. Last year, we projected three buses, as well, but for $330,000. So a little bit less than last year, but three buses, as well,” said Tunis.
Meanwhile, the capital projects plan anticipates spending almost $629,000 on electric and gas utilities and more than $587,000 on technology. It also includes $80,000 worth of roof repairs, among other items.
The school board also took the usual step of allowing school officials to transfer up to $1 million from the Education to Operations Fund over the course of next year. They also authorized Tunis or Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin to make cuts to the advertised 2022 budget, if necessary.
The budget itself is up for the Starke County Council’s approval today.
