Changes were recently made to North Judson-San Pierre’s school resource officer position. Starting this school year, SRO Chris Kisela is now an employee of the school corporation, rather than the North Judson Police Department.
“That makes things easier, as opposed to where his duties and responsibilities lie,” School Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin explains. “And he’s accountable to us, and he doesn’t have to juggle both positions.”
Zupin says the Secured School Safety Grant from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security will help cover the cost, while the town will continue to offer other types of help. “It’s still a joint effort,” Zupin says. “The town will be donating the vehicle for us and still offering support in the training.”
The North Judson-San Pierre School Board officially hired Kisela as a school employee over the summer.
