Area artists are looking at ways to develop creative experiences for older adults. Visual artist Lynn Darda of Winamac and multidisciplinary artist Jennifer Weinert of Kewanna are among the 25 participants in this week’s Lifelong Arts Indiana training session, according to the Indiana Arts Commission.
That will make them eligible to apply for a $1,000 fellowship to develop their own arts programs in their communities next year. According to the Lifelong Arts Indiana webpage, Darda says bringing new resources to older residents in her rural community will be an exciting and new challenge. Meanwhile, Weinert believes that “applying process-oriented and contemplative practices” can help people at any age “express themselves fully and confidently.”
The Lifelong Arts Indiana program is funded by the Indiana General Assembly and a grant from the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies in partnership with Aroha Philanthropies. Training and resources are being provided by Lifetime Arts.
