LaPorte County Police have announced a murder charge, in connection with an ongoing child death investigation. As previously reported, sheriff’s deputies say they got a call of an unconscious child at a home in the 3100 block of East County Road 875 South early Monday morning. The child, later identified as four-year-old Judah Morgan, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Now, police say the boy’s biological father, Alan D. Morgan, 28, has been charged with murder, along with five counts of neglect of a dependent. He’s also been charged with a misdemeanor count of cruelty to an animal.
Officers say Judah’s death was ruled a homicide during an autopsy Tuesday. Alan Morgan remains in the LaPorte County Jail.
The Sheriff’s Office notes that arrests and criminal charges are mere accusations, and every person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
