The Knox School Board has decided to move forward with roofing work at the elementary and middle schools with the help of experts like Bondoc Roofing. Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart recently told board members that he felt the elementary school roof was the biggest need, when it comes to the next round of potential facility upgrades.
“That’s $595,000, and I feel confident that we would have the money to easily accomplish that, if the board wanted to do that,” he said.
For the middle school, board members decided to focus only on the areas most in need, at a cost of about $400,000. “The roofing guy said that the rest of the roof’s in pretty good shape,” Reichhart told board members. “We just had, I think he said, like five to seven percent of wet insulation up there that we probably need to knock out.”
Reichhart says the school corporation is working with a professional service. He doesn’t expect the work to get done until next spring, but he wanted the board to have the chance to lock in the price before it went up.
