Knox Schools Budget Anticipates More State Education Funding, Lower Debt Service Expenses

The Knox Community School Corporation’s 2022 budget could result in lower property taxes, according to Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart. “We have $2,399,849 to Debt Service, which is a reduction,” he explains. “So taxpayers should see a reduction on Debt Services on their tax bills.”

The total proposed budget is almost $21.8 million. It also includes an Operations Fund of almost $4.9 million and an Education Fund of almost $13 million. “The Education Fund is actually propped up with additional money from the state that was passed by our legislature this past session,” Reichhart notes.

Reichhart says no comments from the public were offered during last week’s budget hearing. Budget adoption is scheduled for Tuesday.
