The North Judson-San Pierre School Board recently approved about $13,000 worth of repairs to the middle school gym area. Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin said the school corporation’s custodial and maintenance staff was removing the damaged stage floor.
“That’s what our junior high and high school use as a wrestling area,” she explained. “After the removal, we will assess the foundation to look for the sources of water and the moisture.” Fanning Howey was then expected to help determine the next steps.
Meanwhile, Adams Masonry was scheduled to work on the gym at the end of September. “There are recommendations to address some joint reinforcement and expansion joints,” Zupin said. “Fanning Howey does not believe that, at this time, it’s a critical repair, but if we leave it uncorrected, it could cause damage from water penetration.”
Zupin told board members that the school corporation does have the funds available.
