Starke County voters cast their ballots in a number of contested races during the Primary Election on Tuesday, May 3.
In the race for Starke County Sheriff, candidate Jack Rosa won the Republican nomination over Gregory Wireman. Meanwhile, Brack Rowe, Robert Olejniczak, Harold Smith, and Kelly Fisher were in the running to be the Democratic candidate for sheriff. It was a close race between Smith and Fisher but, ultimately, Fisher won the race. Republican Rosa and Democrat Fisher will face off for the Sheriff’s race in the General Election this November.
In the Primary race for California Township Trustee, Democrat Sheri Bartoli won the race over fellow Democrat Laura Mcintosh.
Incumbent Republican County Commissioner Bryan Cavender retained his seat over competitor Don Binkley, in a close race for the District 2 seat. No Democratic candidates ran in the Primary Election for that position.
When it comes to County Council District 4 on the Republican ticket, Cassandra Hine won over Tom Decola. Hine and Democrat Clayton Redlin, who ran unopposed in the primary, will be vying for that position this fall.
In the State Representative races for Districts 16 and 20, Starke County voters cast the most votes for Bryan Washburn and Jim Pressel, respectively.
Individuals who won Starke County’s race for the Republican State Convention Delegates include Bernadette Welter-Manuel, Mandy Thomason, Dylan C. Lewandowski, Larry Jernas, Cathy Sue Hensell, Candice Lyn Gomez, and David Kesvormas Sr.
