A Land and Water Conservation Fund grant application has been submitted to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources by the Town of North Judson.
North Judson Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe previously stated the grant would include the addition of some pickle ball and beach volleyball courts to the south of the baseball fields on location as well as redoing the basketball courts. More ADA-friendly walking paths, sidewalks and playgrounds will be built.
Rowe told the North Judson Redevelopment Commission members Tuesday that a meeting with the DNR occurred last week.
“Our town superintendent, myself and Nick Radtke from our park board toured the park with three members of DNR. It was a good meeting and we’re very hopeful of the future outcome of that grant – 50/50 $500,000 – $500,000 – million dollar total grant.”
Rowe said the town will know soon if they are awarded the grant.
Rowe added “It could be as early as late February, March or as late as late spring next year. It’s hard to put a clock on that when they will hear back and when we would hear that we’ve got federal approval for that.” The Indiana Department of Natural Resources received 12 applications to choose from around the state. Rowe is hopeful the Town of North Judson will be chosen.
