Knox Board of Works to Meet Today

The Knox Board of Public Works plans to approve the bid award for the Moose Lodge demolition when they meet this morning.

Knox Mayor Dennis Estok said in their last meeting that Hill Excavating provided the only bid of $144,639.

The city was awarded almost $138,000 in federal Community Development Block Grant money through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) Blight Clearance Program to demolish the Moose Lodge.

OCRA says the Moose Lodge demolition will also include the removal of about 6,900 square feet of asbestos-containing floor tile and 5,100 square feet of asbestos-containing tile adhesive. The city’s share of the cost is over $15,000.

The meeting will be held at the Knox City Hall at 9:30 a.m. CT.
