The Starke County Park Board is looking into grants for connecting trails within the county.
Board member Rik Ritzler mentioned the Constellation of Starke Stellar Planning Commission has been talking about the project for the last two years with the trail head being located at the Bass Lake Beach House.
Ritzler commented, “The purpose of the stellar planning was to get trails that go from North Judson to Bass Lake to Monterrey to Knox to Hamlet and interconnect those with trails.”
The trail head building at the Bass Lake Beach House would also have updates while they get trails connecting Starke County built from grants. Ritzler says it could take up to two years for approval on grants that could help the project come to fruition. A committee was assembled with Ritzler taking the lead role on getting the project going.
