Hamlet-Davis Township Fire Protection Territory Approved by DLGF

The Hamlet Town Council was recently notified by the State Department of Local Government Finance that the Hamlet-Davis Township Fire Protection Territory was approved.

The next step involves forming a Fire Protection Territory board with at least one Hamlet Town Council member. The board will oversee all financial matters to be approved by the Hamlet Town Council. The Town of Hamlet will be the provider unit for budgetary purposes.

The formation of this Fire Protection Territory will gather enough funds for a proposed budget of $99,000 where a lot of items could be paid for that cannot be done now due to budget constraints.

The funds will come from a new tax.  The taxpayers in the Town of Hamlet will see a 3 percent increase in property taxes and Davis Township taxpayers outside of the Town of Hamlet will see a 6.2 percent increase in property taxes.

ISO ratings will improve and lower home owner’s insurance costs.
