The North Judson-San Pierre School Board approved an amendment to the 2022-2023 Non-Certified Handbook and Pay Schedule during their meeting Tuesday night.
Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin said classroom instructors without a DOE license or bachelor’s degree would be acknowledged under a new category called Non-Licensed Classroom Instructors.
Dr. Zupin told WKVI News this has helped the school corporation fill positions needed for the year as there has been a teacher shortage. She added these positions will be geared toward instructing Specials like Art and Music courses.
These instructors would go on their Non-Certified salary pay schedule. They are compensated better than substitute teachers but not compensated the same as licensed or bachelor’s degree employees.
The Non-Licensed Classroom Instructors will have more responsibilities than a normal substitute teacher and will plan, prepare, grade and instruct classes every day just like a licensed or bachelor’s degree teacher does.
