The Knox-Center Township Fire Department, Starke County Sheriff’s Office, Starke County EMS, Starke County EMA, and Knox Community School Corporation all took part in school safety training this past weekend.
Knox City Police Chief Harold Smith stated that tours of the Elementary, Middle, and High Schools were conducted along with discussions specifically about school safety and emergency response. School Resource Officer Corporal Travis Schieber will be back at Knox Community Schools this year.
In preparation for the beginning of the school year, which starts this week in Knox, the Knox Police Department would like to remind parents and drivers to slow down and that cell phone usage is not allowed when operating a vehicle, especially in a school zone.
The first day for students at Knox Community Schools is Thursday, August 4.
