Pulaski County Community Development Commission (CDC) Executive Director Nathan Origer advised the council members on a report from RC Engineering.
Architects from RC Engineering did a structural assessment on the County Highway Garage roof in August. The roof has been leaking for some time in several areas, with water causing damage to tiles and dripping into where government leaders currently hold their meetings. Origer said they looked at the trusses of the building and assessed whether or not more than just a new roof would be necessary.
Origer said the architect’s report stated a retrofit instead of a full system replacement is what needs done.
Roof retrofitting is the process of installing a new roofing system over an existing roof.
The anticipated estimate from Tonn and Blank Construction to have the roof fixed was set at $200,000. In a previous meeting, the council approved the $200,000 additional appropriation with a majority vote. The $200,000 cost will come out of the Pulaski County Highway Department’s funds.
Origer said he will be getting the project submitted to the state some time next week.
