Battery Back-up Needed at 911 Call Center in Pulaski County

Pulaski County Sheriff Jeff Richwine advised the county commissioners last week about potentially installing a battery back-up throughout the whole Justice Center.

Currently, the only battery back-up on location keeps the 911 Call Center running during power outages.

He said the battery back-up keeps the Call Center running when power drops out since it takes time for the generators to turn on.

Richwine mentioned a service agreement was made when the installation of the system was done. He added that service updates are a regular occurrence with the battery back-up to make sure everything is running properly. He said the service center suggested getting a battery back-up for the whole Justice Center. An estimate was found to be $37,000 to have the updates done.

The sheriff told the commissioners he didn’t need an answer at that time but wanted to make them aware. He added he would get an estimate on the installation of the update as well.

The commissioners took the report under advisement.
