The Knox City Council held a public hearing on their 2023 budget Tuesday, September 13.
The council opened up the floor for public comment and there were no comments.
According to the notice on the Indiana Gateway website, the total budget request is about $3.3 million with about $1.6 million in the General Fund, $50,000 in Local Road and Street, about $440,000 in the Motor Vehicle Highway Fund, about $167,000 in the Park and Recreation Fund, and other special funds.
The budget adoption is set for Tuesday, September 27 at 6 p.m. CT. at Knox City Hall.
In other news, it was brought to a council member’s attention that speeding on U.S. 35 into Knox has been occurring. The council member added semi trucks are the majority of speeders through town.
Mayor Estok told the council he would speak with Knox Chief of Police Harold Smith in making sure U.S. 35 in Knox stays safe and that citizens driving through town adhere to the posted speed limit.
