The North Judson Town Council held a public hearing on the proposed water and sewer rate increases Monday night.
The council opened the floor for comment with no comment made from the public. The council voted to approve the proposed ordinances as written. The increases will take effect October 1.
The water rates will be increased through four phases. Currently, the minimum water rate is $19.80 per month for regular household use up to 5,000 gallons. Phase one will increase the minimum amount to $20.70 per month starting October 1.
Phase two will increase the minimum water rate to $21.75 per month starting April 1, 2023. Phase three will increase the minimum amount to $22.85 per month starting October 1, 2023. Phase four will finish the rate increases for water rates as the minimum amount due per month on regular household use up to 5,000 gallons will be $24.00.
The sewage rates will be increased through five phases. Currently the minimum sewage rate is $38.55 per month for regular household use up to 3,200 gallons. Phase one will increase the minimum amount to $39.30 per month starting October 1.
Phase two will increase the minimum sewage rate to $40.10 per month starting April 1, 2023. Phase three will increase the minimum amount to $40.90 per month starting October 1, 2023. Phase four will increase the minimum amount to $42.65 per month starting April 1, 2024. Phase five will finish the rate increases for sewage rates as the minimum amount due per month on regular household use up to 3,200 gallons will be $44.35.
North Judson Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe told WKVI News these rate increases will put the town of North Judson right at the average of water and sewer rates in the State of Indiana.
