A wage and benefit study is underway in Pulaski County.
Pulaski County Community Development Commission (CDC) Executive Director Nathan Origer updated the Pulaski County Council on which government employees are applicable for a wage increase.
In a previous meeting, the council decided to conduct the study after Pulaski County Sheriff Jeff Richwine advised the council last month about his staff being short on part-time employees, particularly in dispatch. Richwine told the council a raise in pay for current part-time employees would help attract potential candidates, as more part-time dispatchers are needed.
The council took Sheriff Richwine’s request under advisement and discussed what other jobs within the county may need a raise in pay. The wage and benefit study was a motion passed at that previous meeting to determine what pay needs adjusted.
Origer said this week that he is looking at 18 counties throughout Indiana that are culturally similar citizenship-wise. Compared to the other 18 counties, Origer listed many job titles within Pulaski County that will need to be adjusted.
The council took Origer’s report under advisement and plan to discuss this further at future meetings.
