Sewer and Water Rate Ordinances First Reading Approved in North Judson

The North Judson Town Council went through the first reading of the sewer and water rate ordinances during their meeting this week.

North Judson Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe said the rate study done by Baker Tilly Municipal Advisors, LLC provided the town information on the proper rate adjustments. He added the rate study provided the town information on collecting sufficient revenues to pay the cost of operation, maintenance, replacements, improvements and indebtedness of the sewage and water works departments.

A motion was made to accept the ordinances as written for the first reading. The motion was passed by the council.

In a previous meeting, David Dominguez from Baker Tilly was present to explain the suggested three-phase rate increase to the town’s water and sewer rates.

In that meeting he said phase one is proposed to raise rates by 6.5%. Phase two would increase 8% and phase three would increase 5.18%.

Rowe added a public hearing will be scheduled before the next council meeting.
