Starke County Commissioners Approve Final Reading of Solar Ordinance Amendment

The Starke County Commissioners approved the third and final reading of the solar ordinance amendment Monday morning.

In the last commissioner meeting, the commissioners discussed in detail, the landscape buffer and screening amendment as well as the vegetated ground cover amendment. The commissioners tabled the second reading in that meeting.

During the third reading, a motion to pass the ordinance as written was made by Commissioner Charles Chesak and seconded by Commissioner Bryan Cavender. The motion carried by a majority vote of 2 to 1 with Commissioner Mark Gourley opposed.

The Starke County Commissioners now move into the next stage of accepting applications from solar companies. The ordinances passed will need to be followed by the company chosen for projects.
