The Starke County Commissioners passed a motion Tuesday night to place the IT Director on a 30-day paid administrative leave.
The Commissioners stated the 30-day paid leave is pending an investigation. The commissioners did not mention what had come to light but approved the motion unanimously.
Starke County Attorney Justin Schramm provided WKVI News with this statement: “The Council and Commissioners received a report about information being maintained by the County and its server, that contained otherwise confidential and proprietary information. This is not information that is ordinarily gathered in the regular course of business. We are in the process of engaging an outside IT company to conduct an investigation as to the material obtained, safeguard the material in accordance with state and federal law, and to ensure that this material is not otherwise accessed by an unintended party. For the time being, we placed our IT Director on paid administrative leave, until such time as the proper investigatory process has been conducted. This was for the County, its residents, and our IT Director’s security.”
