Winamac Chief of Police Wants Full-Time Officer at Eastern Pulaski Schools

The Pulaski County Council heard from Winamac Chief of Police Tyler Campbell during their meeting Monday night.

Chief Campbell is looking to place a full-time police officer at Eastern Pulaski School Corporation (EPSC). He asked the council if they would be willing to contribute to funding the full-time position.

Campbell told the council the position would be paid close to $70,000 a year. Campbell made clear he wasn’t asking for the full amount but rather any contribution the council would be willing to make. He added the Town of Winamac and Eastern Pulaski School Corporation would pay the rest.

Pulaski County Council President Ken Boswell added he believes schools should be under better surveillance and that this would also be funding West Central as they are part of the county.

While the 2023 budget has already been published, the council took the request under advisement.
