The Hamlet Town Council announced during their last meeting that a bid had arrived for a proposed sidewalk project.
The project would move forward if Hamlet is awarded the Community Crossings Matching Grant the town applied for in August.
If awarded, the grant funds would go toward the installation of a new sidewalk on South Starke Street from Pearl Street to Indiana Street in Hamlet.
Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts told WKVI News the new sidewalk would be put in on the east side of Starke Street. She announced in the town council meeting the latest bid came in at $69,112. She added they cannot approve anything until word from the State has been given if Hamlet is, in fact, the recipient of the grant.
Pitts said it will be known some time in November if the town is awarded the grant from Community Crossings.
