The Knox City Council will go over the second reading of an ordinance abolishing the Knox City Court tonight.
During the first reading in their previous meeting, Knox City Court Judge Charles Hasnerl requested the council to table the first reading so the City Court may have an opportunity to reply to the ordinance.
A motion was passed unanimously to approve the first reading of the ordinance. Mayor Estok then stated it was the first reading and there will be plenty of time for the City Court to reply.
More information on the ordinance is planned to be discussed during the second reading tonight.
The council also has the first and second reading of the 2023 Salary Ordinance adoption on the agenda tonight.
Clerk-Treasurer Cyndi Kidder and Mayor Dennis Estok will both have their regular reports. Other items that may come before the council as well as citizen’s comments are on the agenda as well.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT at Knox City Hall.
