Starke County Highway Superintendent Dan Dipert addressed the Starke County Commissioners last week about the need for a boom mower to use on roadsides throughout the county.
Superintendent Dipert said a nine-year-old used tractor with attached boom mower from Fulton County is for sale. He added the total cost of the tractor with the attached boom mower is listed at $36,000. He added a total of 3,000 hours are on the tractor.
Superintendent Dipert said he had found other used nine-year-old tractors but not with the boom mower already attached. He added the price on this particular tractor with the boom mower attached was the best deal for what the Highway Department was looking for compared to buying a tractor and boom mower separately.
The board unanimously approved a motion to approve the purchase of the used tractor with boom mower.
