The Starke County Sheriff’s Department investigated a fatal accident Friday, November 18 around 5:20 a.m. CT in the area of U.S. 30 and 600 E. in Hamlet.
Police say the vehicle appeared to be driving westbound, sliding off of the roadway due to weather conditions which caused the vehicle to roll over into the center median.
Upon arriving on scene, it was discovered the vehicle involved was a Starke County Highway Department snowplow, according to the report.
The driver, identified as 48-year-old Jeffery Day of Etna Green, Indiana was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Starke County Coroner’s Office.
The Starke County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Hamlet-Davis Township Fire Department and Howard’s Towing.
