The Winamac Town Council approved a resolution to apply for a blight grant.
The council announced they will be working with KIRP-C to apply for the grant by Decmeber 12. Winamac Town Manager Brad Zellers told WKVI News there are old elevator silos on Logan Street in Winamac a block south of the splash pad. He added the council is interested in turning that lot into a park.
Zellers informed WKVI if Winamac receives the blight grant, the town must wait five years before they are able to do anything because of the blight grant’s written contract. He said if the town is approved for the blight grant it would be helpful to the town for the project.
