Farming roots run deep in Pulaski County. The Reverend John T. Ford, Thomas and Leonora (Senn) Ford, recognized the value of rural community.
Father Ford grew up in the area and pursued an academic and ecclesiastical career at the University of Notre Dame, Holy Cross College and the Gregorian University in Rome. Father Ford valued education and wanted to ensure that other young people from the community had educational opportunities to pursue their dreams. He established the Senn Family Scholarship in 2014 and through his bequest, has grown the scholarship fund through a gift of farmland, valued around $1.5 million.
The Community Foundation received the gift of farm property when the Ford estate was finalized this past fall. The Ford Farm, located in the Star City area, is approximately 193 acres.
The revenue generated from the farm goes to the Senn Family Scholarship endowment fund, which over time, will generate larger awards year after year.
