Knox City Council Reorganizes, Makes Appointments

The Knox City Council members retained Jeff Berg as the President Pro Temp when they met Tuesday night.

They reappointed Nathan Bradley and Jeff Berg to the Redevelopment Commission. The council appointed Sherry Cowen, Don Kring, David Metz and Ron Parker to the Planning Commission. The council then appointed Sherry Cowen to the Starke County Economic Development Foundation and Bill Gustafson was reappointed to the Starke County Solid Waste District.

Mayor Dennis Estok announced department head appointments. Autumn Ferch was retained as City Attorney, Jeff Borg as Street Superintendent, Tim Lindewald as Water Superintendent, Jason Clemons as Wastewater Superintendent, Karl Swihart as Director of Parks and Recreation, Harold Smith as Police Chief, and Kenny Pfost as Deputy Chief and Fire Chief.

Mayor Estok then stated the city is taking applications for the Director of Building and Code Compliance and Planning Administrator position currently. Mayor Estok said they will be conducting interviews soon. He added there is also a position that needs to be filled on the Board of Zoning Appeals.

The mayor also appointed Bill Gustafson to the Starke County Alcohol Beverage Board, Sherry Cowen as the K-IRPC representative, and Marcia Hayes, Mike Estok and Marsha Boggs on the Redevelopment Commission.

Additionally, Jim Collins and Steve Dodge will continue as members of the Knox Board of Works.
