The North Judson-San Pierre School Board continued discussions on the JESSE Cooperative during their meeting last week.
It was previously announced that Plymouth Community School Corporation is withdrawing from the JESSE Cooperative which leaves the organization without a Local Education Agency (LEA) and none of the eight other schools in the cooperative have decided to accept that role. If there is no LEA by June 2024, JESSE will dissolve. That will be determined by the JESSE Board of Managers which consist of the nine schools within the cooperative.
The nine participating schools within JESSE are Culver Community School Corporation, Argos Community Schools, John Glenn School Corporation, Knox Community School Corporation, North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation, Oregon-Davis School Corporation, Plymouth Community School Corporation, Triton School Corporation, and the Union-North United School Corporation.
The North Judson-San Pierre School Board approved a resolution to amend the JESSE agreement bylaws. Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin told WKVI News the withdraw date was changed. She said this moved withdrawing from JESSE on January 1 to May 1.
If a school does withdraw, that corporation will now receive its portion from the remainder of the fund balance within JESSE. Prior to this amended agreement, the funds would have simply stayed with the JESSE Cooperative.
