Starke County Highway Superintendent Dan Dipert addressed the Starke County Commissioners on an update with the approved boom mower purchase.
Superintendent Dipert said a nine-year-old used tractor with attached boom mower from Fulton County that was purchased last month will be picked up this week. He added the total cost of the tractor with the attached boom mower is listed at $36,000. He added a total of 3,000 hours are on the tractor.
In a previous story, Superintendent Dipert said he had found other used nine-year-old tractors but not with the boom mower already attached. He added the price on this particular tractor with the boom mower attached was the best deal for what the Highway Department was looking for compared to buying a tractor and boom mower separately. During that meeting the commissioners approved the purchase.
Dipert went on to say with this newly added piece of equipment, the county will be another step ahead going into spring.
Dipert also went on to say the morale at the highway department is very high. He said with the weather not being an issue so far this winter, roads have been safe. He added they will be ready for the next snowfall when it comes.
