The Starke County Council heard from SCILL Executive Director Jim Hernandez during their meeting last month.
Director Hernandez asked the council for funding to add a security system at the technology building. Hernandez stated the front door does not have measures in place to verify who enters the building.
Cameras, key fobs, egress doors were all part of what Director Hernandez asked the council to fund. He said he received two quotes to have the security sytem put in place. The lowest quote came in at $18,052.76.
Hernandez went on to say there were county funds remaining for SCILL in 2022 in the amount of $16,292.74 which would leave $1,760.00 for SCILL to cover the cost.
A motion was made to approve the $16,292.74. The motion was seconded. The council passed the motion with a majority vote. Two council members voting opposed.
